Comments: Antipsychotics Reduce Brain Volume?

On the other hand, the old standard - Lithium - supposedly INCREASES brain size. See http://dir2.nichd.nih.gov/nichd/usdp/pdf/25LiBDNF.pdf or google "lithium and brain growth" for studies galore.

Well I can say antipsychotic use for 7 years didn't shrink my daughter's brain; due to the neuro-doc saying her brain is a size 10 in a size 9 skull.
Too bad Zyprexa didn't so something positive all those years.

You know, in the days of early airbag-for-cars research, that they strapped dead pigs in carseats and that is how the first generation airbags were tested for human use?

That's really bad that antipsychotics do that.

Gwen,
That's why there are so many studies out there...no one knows exactly what happens, and the shrinking of the brain isnt anything to worry about, or think has happpened to you.

Hang in there, you know it is okay to take your time gaining your Degree. Some famous people out there never went to college at all.

You love learning, and writing, and will be successful no matter what you do, because you have a passion for those things.

Just follow your dreams.
