Comments: AstraZeneca To Pay Feds $520 Million To Settle Seroquel Claims

You have to question what effect this will have on the tens of thousands of civil litigation suits pending against AZ?

As we have seen in the past with these types of government sweetheart deals; the Pharma Giants admit little wrong doing while paying back a fraction of what they have taken in illegally.

Those that have actually suffered significant harm win nothing from these kinds of deals; since their cases still languish in obscurity never even making it before a jury.

With recent new studies showing the weight gain and metabolic issues being substantiated; I have to question how long the courts will turn a blind eye to the validity of these legal actions?

It should be quite interesting to watch the American Justice and Court System muddle along once again.

What about the injured people?

The patients who took the Seroquel under doctor's orders and ended up with diabetes?

Diabetes is a life long permanent damage resulting from the use of Seroquel, and AstraZenexa KNEW the side effect existed along with the weight gain possibility.

What happens to those people? the ones who may not even have health insurance and living life with diabetes as a result of chemical injury brought on by a drug company medication.

If this follows suit that Zyprexa did, it leaves God knows how many people injured or dead with shortened lives suffering from diabetes without compensation for injury.

This is another sad, sick and disgusting outcome of a result that can happen when people take these drugs. Seroquel was prescribed off-label for insomnia as well as bipolar add-on drug for many, many people.

When a person tries to get private health insurance the diabetes is a pre-existing condition, and one created by a chemical. Something is very, very wrong with how poorly people are treated in America, and these psych meds are just one of a multi-faceted problem we face.

ASTRA ZENECA IS GUILTY OF ENDANGERING COUNTLESS LIVES.

Seroquel is a dangerous drug and should be pulled from the market.

My opinion.

Psychiatrists could put an end to this, but they are too entrenched in their lies. They prefer to play God-- deciding diabetes is preferable to psychosis.

Thank you Vicki, I've been thinking that for a long time... it boggles the mind, especially when you tell them that you really don't mind your "emotional problems" especially in comparison to the threat of diabetes. The shrinks do not get this.

The FDA should be held accountable, because the FDA approval of Seroquel is the only reason Seroquel is for sale!
