Comments: Medical Marijuana For Autism?

Wow. This is controversial, but I've seen enough severe autistic kids that (eventually grow up) and could see how this might be a viable option opposed to antipsychotics. If medicating self-harming and violent behaviors. Some people may not understand that there is a small % of autistic kids(and adults) that are very violent often toward themselves (banging head on walls, or tables, etc.)I read years ago about a mother who gave her "bipolar child" pot in capsules, and it helped the boy. I've worked with some kids so severe staff needed to wear what resembled football gear for arm protection, and the child had a helmet on, for spending hours banging (and previously injuring)their head on a table. As with every thing, there are extreme cases. Sometimes all you can do is make sure the person is safe, and in the least restrictive way, and this is something to consider, same with pot for schizophrenia vs. antipsychotics.

Awesome anecdotal story. Only caveat is to make sure the medical marijane is the right kind. See Mindhacks.com LINK

Wow, this is so strange. I'm unable to use MJ anymore because it makes me anxious. We really are all wired differently and one size does NOT fit all. (I learned that latter lesson from my panty hose years ago.)

OT: Hope all is well in Philip Land, Philip. I spent about half an hour watching a great blue heron in the woods last night, along with a large flock of cedar waxwings, two snapping turtles doing their best to pose as inanimate objects, a green heron and about 8 ducks. Then I walked about four miles to my favourite woods place and back. Swam home on a sea of endorphins. Life is actually good sometimes. Amazing. Best wishes to all.

Oh Sherry! I wish I could have seen those birds and ducks and turtles. . I am so jealous!

Totally, screamingly OT:
Susan,
That green heron turned out to be an American bittern. Oh what an amazing bird! I wish you were here to see it. About two feet tall, perched on a short snag in the swamp, head hunched into his shoulders. I watched him/her for about 45 minutes while five snapping turtles lolled about on their favourite log at my feet. Which were wet because I got so into watching the wildlife I didn't notice my sneakered feet had slid into the swamp.
Have a great day. I have to settle down today and get some work done. If you'd ever like to chat some, please do feel free to e-mail me at duckladynh at yahoo.com You know to substitute the symbol for the "at" and take out the spaces, I'm sure. Hope Philip doesn't mind my doing this.

This article is very informative about medical marijuana, even if you don't have autism. Interesting how it all works.
