This is ridiculous, but it's the way of the world now, we have an industry that looks like this:
Today, I was sitting in a waiting area of several PCP offices, labs etc.
I think I see a famous Seattle Seahawk accompanied by a gorgeous Sea Gal. Sea Gal carried a power shopping bag that had "Lunesta" on one side, and "Lexapro" on the other. Guy was told to come back later. Gal says, "Let's just go over to the next office."
Maybe next time, I will get their autographs.

I can't believe that this could pass... I really hope it doesn't and wrote my representatives to vote no on it.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

I live in California and I listen to my local talk stations and I have not heard one word boo about this piece of legislation, thank you for making me aware of this.
I am completely pissed off at the idea that this could even be considered to be allowed. I don't think anyone in thier right mind would vote yes for such a thing, except of course for paid off politicians. I am F-ing mad that I have not been made aware of this happening by any of my local stations or newspapers because it is a MAJOR issue and it should be getting MAJOR coverage... Ah but I guess there are more important things to talk about for hours and hours and hours on talk radio and spend pages and pages and endles cover pages of newspapers on, such as one of the people running for mayor of my city having had sex wwith a 17 year old when he was in his twenties... Oh yeah, like that is really worth the huge amount of coverage it gets when there are seriously major issues about MY PRIVACY that are going on.
Man I hate mainstream news, even on the local level it is all titts and ass and who's a scandal and BS BS BS... and never do we ever hear about the mahor issues that impact our individual lives and aren't just tasty stories and political BS.
you have to think, once it's legal to sell such information who exactly is going to be able to buy it... is there going to be anyone regulating who can get this info, will it strictly be the pharma comapnies that can get it -which is bad enough in and of itself- or will not be monitored and essentialy anyone can get away with purchasing such info? ...Are big corporations such as wallmart etc., going to be able to somehow get this info, check it against the birth dates and full names of potential employees and then deney some people jobs - on the "down low" of course without that person even knowing that the company knows that they have any illness that may be protected under the ADA, so the potential employee has no way of defending themselves against such discrimination.
Well anyways, thanks for alerting myself and other Californians of this possibility because if it weren't for you I woudl have absolutely no clue.
I guess I better prepare myself for the onslaught of junk mail DTC BS about how I should talk to my doctor about Abilify and Zyprexa and blah blah blah f-ing crap waste of paper. ... maybe though I'll luck out and some dipsh*t pharmacuetical company will pull a dipsh*t move and send me samples of some psyche med in the mail that I can then progress to take -cause that's why they snet them to me right?-, and then go off my rocker, get put in the psych hiospital and then sue the living dogsh*t out of that company along with all the other "crazies" that got the sample... and then maybe I'll have enough money to pay to go somewhere where I can actually get detoxed off of the psyche meds I am currently on and having a hard time quitting without being immediately forced to get on another freaking cocktail of over rated, legalized psychoactive substances aka DRUGS.
ha! That woudl be great, and I seriously think the drug comps are greedy and stupid enough to send out samples of Rx drugs without and rx... yeah a free three week sample of seroquel in the mail, get em hooked without even having to go thru the process of converting a doctor - AWSOME! - I just can't wait.

This is bad, but what most people don't realize is that HIPPA (Health Insurance Privacy and Portability Act, I think) is a federal law that means that all of your health information is portable so all health care providers always have access to it. But private so that you often don't have access to your own health record, and with psych records there's no law saying you have to have access to your own records. And of course your health care providers and insurers can share this information with the other subsidiaries of their insurance companies, like life, home owners and auto. If you pay for a psych drug with insurance or if one' has been prescribed for you, there's no hiding it. Unfair, but true.
