Comments: ADHD Studies Cast Doubt On ADHD Treatment
Philip,
This is quite interesting to me for a very different reason to the one you note. It was JAACAP that published the infamous ghostwritten paper, fronted by Marty Keller, Neal Ryan, and our old mate Harold Koplewicz, et al, alleging the efficacy and safety of Paxil in minors. The Editor, Dr Mina Dulcan, came in for some quite stiff criticism on the ground that she appeared not to notice what a lot of old tosh she was printing, in spite of some of the reviewers' comments.
In comparison, a piece questioning the routine medicalization of childhood behaviours seems like something of a departure.

Oh, and the other incident that is called to mind, concerning, JAACAP is the Gilberg affair. Aubrey (Blumsohn) has several posts on this, but basically, there were allegations of falsification of evidence underpinning a paper that JAACAP published. The guy leading the research team then destroyed all his data (I think after he'd been ordered to make it available for scrutiny). JAACAP maintained a studied silence on the matter.
