Comments: The Zyprexa Chronicles: Ex Lilly Rep Talks Zyprexa
That’s hysterical, would you rather have a fat normal patient, or a psychotic healthy patient.
Who would have thought, big pharma downplaying side affects to sell more meds. Its not the first time, and I guarantee it won't be the last.

In a conversation today with a psychiatric nurse the topic of Zyprexa was brought up, I was pointing to the negative side effects. The response I was given was that the rate of diabetes related to zyprexa was only significant when the client had a genetic vulnerability toward diabetes. When this was not present the diabetes rate on and off zyprexa was comprable. Any thoughts?

Ab, sounds like you've been misinformed. Type I diabetes has almost no genetic component. Type II diabetes tends to be lifestyle-related; thus, parents tend to pass on their dietary choices to their kids. Sounds like your psych nurse is displaying a classic case of "blame the patient."
