Comments: The Zyprexa Chronicles: Zyprexa Set For Teen Approval
This is outrageous. I wish I could start a hot line for parents to call when they hold that rx in their hand and tell them these things:
1. 1999-2005 my daughter took Zyprexa from age 11-17.She gained 50 pounds, her eyes rolled up in her head at any dose over 7.5 mg.,she felt constantly agitated on the drug and she noted all doses. 2.5mg,5 mg.,7.5mg.,10mg.,15mg. The higher the dose the worse the side effects became, and by age 17 had the blood sugar up and down so much she packed protein bars and teachers kept them in their desk for her. NO ONE ever suspected diabetes, etc. and all of that was before the blackbox warnings came out. I'm going to go vote on behalf of my daughter now. Somewhere on my blog is a before and after 11 yr old photo pre-zyprexa 50 lbs.-- and on a horse later--she was miserable. For NO good reason.
SHE at age 17 read the information on the internet re: diabetes and the rest of the side effects on the fine print and she fired her psychiatrist and went off of the drug on her own. Then charted horrific withdrawals. I can't say one thing positive about this medication. I would if I could.

This has to be the ultimate in bloody-mindedness: it feels like the licence has been given, precisely BECAUSE people have been complaining about this stuff. If Zyprexa gets licensed in the UK, next, I think I might get in touch with the FDA.
