December 03, 2009Winter Fundraiser, The Day Of $0Yesterday $0 came in for the fundraiser, which fills me with concern. The total raised so far is $1,190 from 27 people. Thanks to all who've contributed so far. There's another $2,810 to go from 73 people to reach the overall goal of $4,000 from 100 people on or about December 18th. I'd still really like to get this thing to about $2,000 raised by the end of Saturday, so there's $810 to go. If you'd like to contribute, the PayPal button is on the right. If you prefer snail mail, shoot me an email and I'll send you my mailing address. Posted by Philip Dawdy at December 3, 2009 12:05 AM

Hope it reaches the amount by the end of Saturday. Posted by: Ana at December 3, 2009 01:32 AMCome on readers, this is a non-pharma-funded, no advertising site, it's funded like PBS by readers only. I suggest that Philip allows readers to purchase advertising on his site and he approved who he allows to advertise here. I've seen other bloggers do it. For example, if I want to be able to have a side bar button that links to my blog via a photo of my blog title--then I pay 125.00 to have a blog advertised here. Get it? or maybe a dog-walking business, a catering business, whatever. Or, paid comment section. Those addicted to reading the comments, flaring them, or whining in the section can pay to view it. Just throwing out ideas. I donated to Philip's site because he took a stand against medicating of children, based on ethics and truth and the danger of the drugs that have no long term studies done---though my daughter is a poster child for the Childhood Bipolar dx gone wrong, and the horrible side effects of a decade on drugs. Maybe the doctors, therapists and those who use his blog for information can donate on behalf of my daughter. I know many doctors read my blog, and my daughter's story shouldn't become the norm of this society, I cannot afford to donate like I would want to, so here goes: Dear Doctors, therapists and other mental health professionals: Donate today on behalf of my 21 year old daughter, whose story is beyond sad about what is wrong with the mental health system, and where you can find important information regarding the medications and the system in general here.
