December 24, 2009Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukkah And So OnI hope you all are having a nice, peaceful holiday regardless of what you celebrate. My flight down from Seattle to Tucson yesterday was a complete pain in the butt--what has happened to air travel?--and I'd just like to say that US Airways stinks. But I'm enjoying the nice weather in Tucson--low 50s, sunny and two more hours of daylight a day than in Seattle this time of year. I need it. I'll be back to regular posting on Monday. Oh, yes, the Senate Dems passed their health care reform bill earlier today. I don't have much to say about it right now since the real action will come after the New Year when it has to be reconciled with the House version of the bill. That said, I'm sure you are all aware that the Senate bill is drawing heaps of criticism from both the political left and right. One writer at Firedoglake.com, about as lefty a joint as you'll find on the 'Net, described the whole business as "Obama's Health Care Cult of Personality" and offered a fairly decent critique of the bill. In less than one year, the President's most ardent supporters have turned into some of his biggest foes. Not sure if I saw that coming. I'm sure you can imagine what conservatives are saying about the bill. Anyway, I hope the year winds down peacefully for you all. Posted by Philip Dawdy at December 24, 2009 01:49 PM

Merry Christmas Philip! Hope you have a great holiday and your travels get easier! Just be glad you're not in the Midwest right now. -Tom My Blog: http://myhealthpanda.blogspot.com Merry F***King holiday Philip, 2 U and your readers. Three more years before we all catch the bus on the Winter Solstice. Too bad it's not coming faster. Patience is not one of my virtues. ;-( Posted by: susan at December 26, 2009 01:12 PMHmmm. I was going to say "chill out" but that's the last thing you want to do now that you've finally found the sun. Please do tell us what the travelling's like in the wake of that guy flicking his Bic on a plane. Thanks a heap, glass bowl. The TSA will be all over this, making our travelling lives even more miserable and inconsistent as they ignore the containers and cargo reaching our shores daily. But we're all safe from babies' diapers, at least. We went ice skating yesterday. Our chicken boarder came out of her PTSD-induced catatonia (chickatonia?) which was pretty cool. She's carving out a place for herself in the flock. Oddly, the reds all acted like the villagers in Frankenstein when I put her in with them yesterday. She's much smaller than they are, but has some powerful juju, I guess. At one point a large hen went for her. She looked at me, then at the hen striding toward her and flew right across the hen house, landing on my shoulder like Long John Silver's parrot. I figured she'd had enough so I walked back into the house with her, still perched on my shoulder. She's doing better tonight, seems to be finding her place in the pecking order. Hope you are all well. My thoughts have been especially with Stephanie and her daughter. I don't have a Google account so I hope she sees this. Posted by: Sherry at December 26, 2009 03:14 PMThank you Sherry, yes I'm here reading, thank you for thinking of us, and for the chicken story here, how funny, that made me laugh.
