Too Much Grief To Write Right Now

I'm experiencing real grief over the death of my cat Katie. Out of 10 cats I've owned or lived with in my life, Katie was the best. We had a connection from the first moment I saw her at a pet shelter seven years ago. I couldn't explain it in words. My other cat KC is doing what she can to help me, but she doesn't have the same voodoo Katie had. Maybe that will develop as she gets older.

I do have some posts I want to do for today, but I'm simply too ripped apart to focus. I hope I will be in better shape by late morning. I'll post then and update the fundraiser. I think $100 or so came in yesterday, which is much appreciated.

Hey hun,I just want to say how sorry I am re your loss of Katie. I know NOTHING I can say can make you feel any better @the moment, but I know WHAT YOU`RE GOING THROUGH! I lOST MY FAVOURITE cat MILLIE,4 years ago, when she was the only "Person" that at the time was keeping me going!(I was already in the depths of despair)..Needless to say I howled for days, and my family were losing patience with me.
I ALSO had another cat,TIPSY, who I hadn`t really bonded with in the same way,but I started to realise how much he too needed me..He knew straight away that I needed him more than ever, and
he started sleeping on my head and nuzzling my ear!! And now I love him more than I ever thought
possible!! So,although no one can ever replace Katie...Im sure your other cat will flourish from the extra attention, and KC NEEDS you badly to,as they do mourn, just as we do! Those who don`t have cats/dogs often can`t understand just the extent of the loss we feel. I NEVER EVER thought I`d get over Millie`s death,I was almost determind NOT to!
But,much as I HATE these cliches...Time IS a GREAT HEALER!! And Millie is still HUGE in my heart, but
now in a happy way!!! If you live in the UK I know there are several bereavement lines..even The Samaritans have one... But Check out Cat protection League,or Mayhew animal Centre...They ALL recognise the grief we experience to be every bit as real as that of when we lose people! ITMT..
My thoughts are with you. And please do email me any time if you want to! With all good wishes,Chloe xx

We're grieving with you, the loss of Katie is sad Philip, give yourself all of the time you need.

The image you described of her and the crow is a beautiful one of her, it is a wonderful way to remember her, a loving spirit she was for sure.

So sorry for your loss. It's devestating to lose a pet - strike that - member of your family.

I am sad for you. We have an adopted cat, too. Somehow we all picked each other. We went to the pound intent on getting a kitten. But came home with this adult cat. Very sad to lose one of these buddies. The crow incident - something to ponder...

Glad to see you taking time to honor your relationship with Katie. As and if you have interest and energy, I'd love to see a post or two about how your life is different because Katie was in it. Your willingness to share important aspects of your personal life here is one of the values of this blog. It helps us place your opinions in context. The best kind of tasteful, thoughtful gonzo journalism.

Philip,

I cried for you. I cried for Katie. Two weeks ago, today, we had to put down our dog, Gucci, who was with our family for 17 wonderful years. I cry for my little Gucci. I know what you know...it is awful, and sad, and hard to explain.

Peace to you.

I'm so sorry to hear about Katie. I'm glad you were strong enough to "do the right thing," as you put it, and help her out of her pain and suffering. Will be thinking of you and wishing I had financial means to support the fundraiser.
