As an adjunct treatment for bipolar disorder combined with either Depakote or Lithium. No comment.

Does anyone ever get this mysterious inclination feeling in the pit of their stomach and wallet; that the FDA really doesn't give a "Rat's Squat" about the actual people they are supposed to protect and represent.

Hmmm, thought Geodon was already approved. Oh, I see, it was approved for acute mania and now it's approved as an adjunct for MAINTENANCE. I really have a hard time believing antipsychotics are necessary when there's no presenting psychosis and you're already on a mood stabilizer. I mean, I don't believe in any of it, but I don't even see how anyone could argue otherwise on this point.

With more and more antipsychotics finding their way into treatment for bipolar, depression, etc. one would think that damping down dopamine -- which is what I understand these drugs do -- is one of the "keys to mental health." However, is there massive research evidence to show this? Somehow, I doubt it.

By the way, Dr. Andrew Weill has a blog post today at Huffington Post about Integrative Medicine for mental health issues.

AS a bipolar who works, I found Geodon, like all the antipsychotics, to be a disaster. Geodon in particular. Without rhyme or reason I would fall into sudden sedation that was stronger than anything I've ever experienced. Like when I was driving. Also, I found myself getting lost in my own neighborhood.

Sigh*****Wow, just when I thought things couldn't get more screwed up...

I'm on this. We call it Zeldox in Canada. I'm taking 40 mg morning and night. It's better than Seroquel. No weight gain.
