October 14, 2009Katie Is FineAbout an hour ago, I got the cytology results on Katie's liver. She does not have cancer. She does have feline hepatic lipidosis--fatty liver syndrome--which is fairly unique to cats. It can be fatal if not caught in time. The treatment is to get her weight back up and not let her get anorexic. She's been putting on weight the last few days and there's more to go. I'm so relieved that I cannot get into it. I am so happy for Katie! Give her a hug from us! Posted by: susan at October 14, 2009 07:12 PMThis is great news!!! Feline hepatic lipidosis is very treatable when caught early. Since Katie is eating/drinking/gaining weight that must indicate it was caught early enough. Posted by: SallyT at October 14, 2009 09:00 PMYippee Yippee! Hooray! What a relief! Posted by: Deborah at October 18, 2009 04:41 PMI am so happy for you and Katie!! Posted by: JJ at October 19, 2009 08:28 PMAdditional personal good news of a mild sort on atypical antipsychotic induced hyperglycemia and diabetes conditions. After suffering glucose dysregulation in 2001 from one half milligram of daily risperdal application, in November 2006, mysteriously my fasting glucose went back to normal for about three weeks in November. Don't know how it happened but I could not keep it there at healthy level for around a month or longer. However this past August, an annual recurring blister outbreak decreased substantially from 50 blisters of the year previous to only 5 blisters. THe result of this, is that even though hyperglycemia and metabolic syndrome features persist years after suffering glucose injury after AAP introduction, improvement of the AAP induced hyperglycemia condition and its concommitant features still improve. Even 8 years later after the injury. Posted by: Harry Horton at October 20, 2009 12:17 PMIs she continuing to get better and putting back the weight she lost? Post a comment
