Thanks To You All

The Fall fundraiser ended successfully after all, now that the USPS has caught up with me. Thanks to all of you who contributed. I appreciate your support.

Glad it worked out, Mr. Dawdy

Phew!

This was a toughie. I can't believe people are tiring of your work or that the value of it has diminished. And Ben Bernanke assures us the recession is over so we *know* the economy isn't a factor, right? Right?

Seriously, I'd love it if people would weigh in on what was different for them this time around. In my case, I actually cut to the chase faster than usual. I usually do a $30 donation, split into two payments to fool my Inner Miser. This time I realized how silly I was being and coughed it up in one hunk. I consider this quarterly payment a subscription and include it in my budget. God knows, it's done way more for my mental well being than the most of the many shrinks I've seen over the years.

I'm curious as to whether our demographics have changed, whether people decided to cut their offerings because of disenchanment, boredom, personal finances or what.

Hope you all have as great a day as you can. I'm happy today because I start a second part-time job tomorrow which will replace the hours cut from my first job. The second job is at a place I've worked at before, a conservation district. Lots of contacts with foresters and farmers, great soil scientist co-workers, time in the woods, writing assignments, good pay. And, since my first job have taken a turn for the worse, a potential escape hatch. If this kind of thing keeps up I may start trusting life one of these days.

I'll shut up now. It's almost 9:00 am on the right coast and many of the rest of you are blinking and trying to find your shoes and coffee pot.

So very happy the goal was met. What a nail-biter though, huh?
