September 18, 2009Fall Fundraiser, D-DayAnother $25 came in yesterday from two people and that brings the total raised so far to $2,321.49 from 44 people. And that leaves $1,678.51 from 56 people to go to reach the overall goal of $4,000 from 100 people on or about September 21. Thanks to all of you who've contributed so far. Obviously, September 21 fast approaches and this fundraiser is going far more slowly than I could've projected and I've got to make a tough decision here over the next day or so. As I've noted in the past, if a fundraiser fails to make its goal, then I'll have to scale back my work here proportionately. So I need to figure out whether to end the fundraiser as planned on Monday and see how much things are short then or extend the fundraiser a few days. It has this D-Day feeling for me. This site's fourth anniversary is next Friday and it'd be like the bitterest pill of all to have to scale back when I ought to be celebrating. You can help me figure out which way things are going by using the PayPal button on the right. Of if you prefer snail mail, send me an email and I'll shoot you my mailing address. Or, hell, send me an email and tell me to pound sand with a small hammer. Thanks in advance for your contributions. Posted by Philip Dawdy at September 18, 2009 12:05 AM

Please, donate! Extend your deadline, Philip. Oct. 1 is pay day for some of us. You might see a bit more generosity once we pay off this month's credit card charges. Posted by: Kay at September 19, 2009 11:14 AMHey, haven't you guys heard? The recession is OVER. Ben Bernanke says so. I heard it on the news. Twice this week. Of course, lots and lots of people still won't have jobs for quite a while. But the recession is over. I'm so happy. {;>) Yeah, do try an extension. Several people have mentioned October 1. Sigh. My best to you, Seattle's Best Reporter. Posted by: Sherry at September 19, 2009 06:41 PMWhy don't you just advertise? I've been following your blog since a long time ago but I've just noticed what does "Furious seasons" refers to. Carver is really great as you are. Philip Dawdy: thanks. it indeed refers to a raymond carver short story of the same name. Posted by: Lizardo at September 20, 2009 03:47 PMPost a comment
