August 03, 2009Lilly Details $22 Million In Payouts To Doctor ConsultantsVia the Wall Street Journal's Health blog comes word that Eli Lilly has just released a list of payouts to doctors acting as consultants for the company and likely speaking on behalf of their drugs to other doctors. The payouts total $22 million in the first quarter of 2009. I did a quick read of the list, but none of the usual suspects from the world of psychiatry jumped out at me. Feel free to look it over yourself and let me know if you see anything noteworthy. Of course, Lilly is deeply involved in areas outside of psychiatry, especially cancer and diabetes treatments. For what my opinion is worth, although I find many of these consulting arrangements to be sleazy, I admire Lilly for detailing them publicly. Posted by Philip Dawdy at August 3, 2009 11:19 AM

YES how about these two?! Advising/Consulting compensation $4500.00 Melissa DelBello of CABF and conflicted interested Grassley fame, also received money from AstraZeneca for personal "business" where address is listed as her place of work. Listed under :Psychiatric Professional Services, Inc. Cincinnati, OH, Melissa P. DelBello Michael Edward Thase, Pittsburg, PA $10,100.00 http://www.med.upenn.edu/apps/faculty/index.php/g20000440/c506/p8144704 Star D study alert! Pharmalot re: Melissa DelBello conflicts http://www.pharmalot.com/2008/04/what-conflict-the-nih-and-a-bucket-of-money/ AND Clinical Psych and Psychology http://clinpsyc.blogspot.com/2008/04/bipolar-child-key-opinion-leader-i-get.html "But wait, there's more! According to Grassley's investigation, DelBello has also established a company for "personal financial purposes." The company is called MSZ Associates and AstraZeneca put $60,000 in the coffers of the company. The address of MSZ Associates, according to Grassley, is the University of Cincinnati Department of Psychiatry (where DelBello works)." See? it always leads back to pharma doesn't it? How much do we trust these people heavily influenced by the makers of the drugs that our psych medical model is based on? Anyone want to discuss Seroquel or Zyprexa and the use in children, and Melissa DelBello being associated with CABF, bpkids dot org? Key Opinion Leaders, yeah right, they are bought and paid pharma pimps! Posted by: Stephany at August 3, 2009 02:05 PMI've dedicated a substantial portion of my recovery to not being a crank. That being said Carla Crockford of Milwaukie, Oregon is a PNP who specializes in medication management for kids and works out of a "christian" clinic. She got $1000 from Lilly, maybe 1% of her total income. Now that I have this information, what do I do with it? Posted by: J Renaud at August 4, 2009 07:51 AMHopefully, Wyeth will do the same. I would like to know how much docs get to pimp the drug that caused me such misery. Posted by: lisa at August 4, 2009 07:29 PMJust did another search of this list. I was curious if the Neurologist I went to was on it. One of the docs from that office was on the list and received $10,500 that quarter. I read his bio on their website which states, in part: "He has held a number of leadership positions in Inova including: President of the Medical Staff, Chair of Medicine, and Chair of Medical Ethics Committee Alexandria Hospital."
