Lilly On Verge Of Settling Zyprexa Claims With Feds For $1.4 Billion

News is just out now that Eli Lilly is expected to finalize a settlement with the feds over accusations of off-label marketing of its drug Zyprexa and ripping off Medicaid and Medicare. According to the New York Times, the settlement will be for $1.4 billion, a record in a whistleblower case (because Lilly employees apparently reported their own company to the feds). So far, Lilly has settled civil class action lawsuits and some states' claims for about $1.3 billion. Many more claims remain outstanding.

Due to my bad back, I am not going to sit here and type out all the background and context to all of this. Please go read the article. And remember as well that this site somehow played a significant role in the Zyprexa scandal.

Nice work Philip! I hope your back is feeling better. I know there are some Lilly executives who aren't feeling that great today. I've always found a little schadenfreude to have amazing curative powers.

"And remember as well that this site somehow played a significant role in the Zyprexa scandal."

Congratulations Philip!

What is being reported here and at other blogs are too serious.
Nothing is done.
I believe I have already said it and I look quite idealistic.
My problem is:
In my twenties idealism had one meaning.
Now I hear at CNN something like:
"In an ideal world a call for like that "it must be stopped now" - middle east crisis - would mean that both side should stop."
In an ideal world...
This phrase is being repeated, repeated and repeated.
What does it means?
For me it is a call for inaction:
"The world is not fair, it's unjust and not even in your dreams there's something you can do about it."
All I want to say is that when health become a commodity and crimes are committed marketing expensive pills I don't know...
I have to stop because it's becoming pathetic and ridiculous.
I don't fear looking ridiculous.
I fear knowing what I know and do nothing about it.
I've been thinking about it all every second and it's showing.
People ask: "Are you sad?" I say "No".
I hope they buy it.
I'll click at Post right now or I'll regret sending it.
