June 12, 2008Senator Presses FDA To Assess Paxil Suicide RisksSen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) is sure turning into a one-man problem for Big Pharma. Today he's calling on the FDA to take a look-see at Glaxo's data on Paxil safety. "The British counterpart to our country’s FDA found that GlaxoSmithKline withheld important safety data on Paxil," Grassley said in a statement. "If the company engaged in this behavior in the UK, then I want to make sure that the same didn’t happen here in the US. The FDA should investigate this question thoroughly and be forthcoming about its findings." This push relates to revelations earlier this year that GlaxoSmithKline hid data establishing links between its anti-depessant and suicide as far back as 1989. It'll be interesting to see what the FDA finds. (Via Pharmalot.) Posted by Philip Dawdy at June 12, 2008 11:18 AM

Please remember to post on your findings when they come out. I have a couple of relatives on Paxil. Posted by: Mark at June 13, 2008 12:44 AMChuck's going for it! I like Grassley: he's very systematic. He may be coming at it from a financial angle (indeed, that's probably the most telling one), but it's probably dawned on him by now that the pharmaceutical industry is about just about anything, apart from patient wellbeing, which seems to be incidental. I should think he's fucking appalled by what he's uncovered. Matt Posted by: Matthew Holford at June 13, 2008 02:17 AMOh, and with a bit of luck, he'll find an excuse to publish the docs that GSK effectively refused to release. I'll have a small wager that there's something in there that (at least), suggests that Garnier knew precisely what was going on. Matt Posted by: Matthew Holford at June 13, 2008 02:20 AMThanks for highlighting this important news Philip.. Seems like the Seroxat Scandal just won't go away will it?.. Posted by: truthman30 at June 13, 2008 10:23 AMJust wanted to highlight the fact that Pharmalot links to the 134 page report written by Joseph Glenmullen that provides the basis for Grassley's investigation and concerns. It looks like it is a fascinating document. Posted by: Sara at June 13, 2008 10:49 AMChuck has a huge pair of bollocks, he reminds me of Thatcher.

Sara, My point in this thread is that there is NO interest in the UK media about Seroxat & this has been the case for quite some considerable time. Look up Scandal in A scandal is a widely publicized incident that involves allegations of wrongdoing, disgrace, or moral outrage. A scandal may be based on reality, the product of false allegations, or a mixture of both. you see truthman30 there is no longer such a thing as a seroxat scandal in the UK. There WAS a scandal- but it has gone away. Now the question is why has it gone away? Sara xxx Sara xxx wrote: Because nobody cares. Next question. Matt Posted by: Matthew Holford at June 13, 2008 04:11 PMSara xx And there I was thinking you had decide to do the decent thing and leave he Seroxat stuff alone.. re -Posted by Matthew Holford at June 13, 2008 04:11 PM "Because nobody cares. Next question." Is it nobody cares because the press now has a sense of proper Perspective in this matter ? Did anybody REALLY care in the first place when all the seroxat hype was placed in the UK media by Mark Harvey's contractor Goodrelations? Much as I sincerely accept that people have been harmed by SSRI/SNRI I wonder if the seroxat mafia would accept that they have been taken in by all the hype placed by Harvey - who has now left them all washed up in personal agony. Sara XXX sorry Matt, Bob, Truthman30 etc etc etc, you have been taken for a ride

You really do need to "get over yourself" and stop focusing on the uniqueness of your personal suffering. I'm not denying you have suffered but do you ever stop and think that you might have to give yourself a sense of closure. Sara XXX
I'm sorry for my stupidity. truthman30, Sara xxx wrote: By whom? I don't know whether or not the press has lost interest - journalists are not free to print what they like, after all. And I don't think it matters very much. The press aren't of paradigm importance, and nor is Marc Harvey. Anyway, as usual, I'm not sure what point it is that you are trying to make? Are you suggesting that, on the (perceived) basis that the press has lost interest, the "game's up," and we should abandon all hope of progressing this matter to a satisfactory conclusion? I would reiterate: if the press has lost interest, then they weren't that important to start with. If you're suggesting that the press has lost interest because the Worshipful Company, its slavish regulators and frontline clinicians are absolutely right when they claim that all side effects are the patient's issue and that they are right to wash their hands, and make sure that they've checked all the right boxes, in order to avoid legal fallout, then I may only respond in one way, Sara: "fuck off". Matt Posted by: Matthew Holford at June 14, 2008 10:42 PMJeremy Bryce.. My sense of Closure is none of your business... You know nothing about me, you know nothing about what I have suffered, you know nothing about what I have done for others, you know nothing period.. Well, Nobody explained me who is Sara XXX...:( Where's Waldo? Posted by: Ana at June 15, 2008 03:28 PM "Irishhermaphrodite" Ha Ha Ha I like that one & sooooooo apt ROFL
