Blame Google Fundraiser, Day 2

Hi. For those of you who missed it yesterday, I've had to begin an emergency fundraiser due to the actions of Lord Google last week (back story here for those who've missed the party so far). I am trying to raise $1,200 by week's end so that I can do things like pay my rent in January, which is what the Google money was for, but clearly Lord Google giveth and Lord Goolge taketh away. Yep, dealing with Google is like a weird mix of Kafka and the Old Testament.

The first day raised $181, which I appreciate more than I can get into. My cats appreciate it as well.

So, please give what you can. The PayPal button is on the right. For those who prefer snail mail, shoot me an email and I'll give you my mailing address.

Just for fun: what Old Testament prophet does Google most nearly resemble in its power and capriciousness?

Dear Mr Dawdy,

I am from Brisbane Australia. I am a zyprexa survivor. I read your comments every day. I think what you do is just terrific. Having suffered terribly at the hands of psychiatric treatment, it gives me great heart, as I'm sure it does others like me, that there is such an intelligent and energetic voice as yours protecting the interests/rights of those who have and may be adversely effected by psychiatry. Unfortunately, I am still on a pension and do not have the credit standing to own a credit card. Therefore I cannot make a donation at this stage. However, I have recovered progressively over the 4 years since I last took psychiatric medication and am starting to work again and soon hope to be able to restore my credit rating and therefore be in a position to make a donation. I hope you don't mind if I keep freeloading in the interim. All I can do at this stage is thank you for all your efforts and point out the very high quality of your good work to people whenever and wherever I can.

My sincere thanks

Peter Hurd

It seems very much that you are being screwed by the Big Brothers at Google for becoming quite famous on your way to telling the truth about their ideological comrades in Big Pharma.

May your name and fame increase!

The Google AdSense team wrote me an email regarding my request to close my AdSense account, and here is my response to the "team" who said,

"We also encourage you to let us
know why you feel Google AdSense hasn't worked well for you so far. We're
constantly working to improve our program and will carefully review all of
your suggestions.

I had already stated it was not income sufficient. But since they asked, I sent this email back:

"Hello,

Please cancel my AdSense account, I've disabled the code already. It is not an efficient way of earning an income, I also do not wish to participate in a program that closes accounts without proper reason, such as the account at Furious Seasons blog, which according to the author Google AdSense owes $600.00 and is refusing payment or reinstatement of the account, due to increase in ad clicks. As you know, there is no possible way for a blog author to know who or how many times a person or malware clicks a page. I find it bad business and the answer given to the author of Furious Seasons was not sufficient, for anyone to understand it's justification of account suspension. If your AdSense team would like to read an interesting discussion re: the Furious Seasons account suspension, please go to this post:

Then respond to me or in public to that author. I personally find integrity of business to be the foundation of all business practices, and find the answer given to Philip Dawdy unacceptable, as so do readers, as you can see in his comment section of several posts linked to this one:

This one.

Regards,
Stephany"

Phil, have you considered adding a donation meter along with the paypal button? Might be a good idea as knowing the actual size of received donations could spur those on the fence to send in an amount, even if it is small.

Good idea Masale.Wallah. I just supported this mental health news blog with $10.00, and challenge the next reader to make it $11.00.

[Also, being how many words I have typed here, it appears I should be sent a bill, and on that note, thanks for allowing my uncensored rants!]

OF REHOBOAM AND GOOGLE
A Comparison
By Gwen Davis

Rehoboam, a prophet and king of ancient Judah, displays profound similarities and distinct resemblances to the search engine Google. This essay will examine – through the dissection of primary textual documents as well as present-day scholarship – the reality of how this past king continues to be a striking example of everything gone awry within the monopolizing and capricious Google world.

Rehoboam, the son of King Solomon who became ruler of Southern Judah at the age of 41, was insistent on burdening his people with a huge increase of taxation and forced labor, even after he had received advise not to do so, as the book of Kings describes: “The king responded harshly to the people; he ignored the advice of the elders who had counseled him…saying, ‘My father made your yoke heavy, and I shall add to your yoke’” (Kings 12:12). Similarly, Google too has issues with the abortion of justice, of stealing money, as Philip Dawdy, a contemporary blogger, questions regarding the company: “This is how Google and all the other twerps in the Bay Area are making the new media? By cutting off legitimate content providers when they have a sudden uptick in popularity and leaving them in fear that they can't make next month's rent” (Furious Seasons)? Rehoboam and Google are both poignantly analogous in that they steal money from others; they manipulate the system; and they keep descent, hard-working people from enjoying the fruits of their labor.

Rehoboam creates such hardship, furthermore, that Semaiah another prophet, comes and proclaims that Rehoboam is not doing things right – that he should stop his detrimental strains for control and power against others, but however, Rehoboam does not listen, as Kings goes on: “The king did not listen to the people...All of Israel saw that the king did not listen to them” (12:15). Google, likewise, does not heed or listen to any messages that its customers put forth, that it blatantly and obnoxiously ignores pleas for mercy, as Dawdy states: “I appealed Google's action, giving them my best guess as to what led to the click increase (I couldn't detect any malicious hacking as some readers had suggested), and the company has already exceeded its own 48-hour response time" (Furious Seasons). The king and the search engine are full defiance for how the world could and should work – they are both exceedingly cruel.

The ultimate fate of Rehoboam was to never be at ease, was to engage in strife for the rest of his life, as scripture goes on to depict: “There was constant warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam [his enemy] all the days” (Kings 14:30). And so, similarly Google, because of its outstandingly wicked position in the world, will not be loved or be at peace by its customers, but will have salient enemies for the rest of its lives, as Dawdy says: “I earned that money fair and square, and the company's executives can go take some Zyprexa for all I care” (Furious Seasons). Both Rehoboam and Google will be made to suffer for eternity – and rightfully so.

In conclusion, there are many similarities between the ancient king Rehoboam, and the search engine Google. From stealing money; to not heeding others; to enduring ultimate, eternal suffering – Rehoboam and Google are both significant examples of what it means to be wretched, miserable beings who have essentially dug their own graves from now until forever.

Wow... you guys get real responses from Google Ads!

While in a manic phase, a couple of years ago, I spent about 48 hours clicking on my own ads incessantly. Convinced I was about to make millions, I was surprised and disappointed when mighty Google immediately banned me from the programme... yup I know, but I was way up in the clouds at the time. Anyway, I've since launched different sites and blogs but always get the same immediate auto-response whenever I apply "Your application has been rejected". Seems they do know where you live.

I know unlike me you're no ruthless cyber criminal and have been treated unfairly but your response from Balaam sounds much more positive, like the door might still be open for you.

Good luck
