That is like showing up at a funeral of a Zyprexa victim, or visiting my daughter in the psych ward. You have got to be kidding. He can send me a check for the 6 years[1999-2005] worth of Zyprexa that caused agitation, ocular dysfunction, blood sugar issues, elevated liver enzymes and a gain of 50 lbs in a 11-17 yr old, then ask why the state hospital used so much of it in 2006, knowing she couldn't take it--and gave it to her in whopping doses [40mg].Then find her a place to live for long term care where HE can sleep at night to keep her safe.
Nice public speech, from a CEO.Because Lilly reads my blog they can start reading my comments here too.

As I'm sure you know all too well, Philip, that's standard PR strategy when you have been/are about to get busted for something -- get out in front of it as a thought-leader. Do your mea culpas, tell people that as a previous bad apple you understand how to fix the system, and do your best to set the "reform" agenda.

This "reform" would presumably reduce their liability.

I remember the first comment I ever read about Zyprexa, from Marni Lemons, in the March 20, 2003 article in the Baltimore Sun. Basically, she said there was no proof that it caused diabetes. Lilly was also pushing the idea that people with schizophrenia got diabetes at a higher rate than "other" people. It burns my stomach to read this mea culpa from Mr. Taurel, knowing that the company was well aware of the lethal side effects before they ever even put the drug out and that, if they had been honest, my son would still be alive. The situation calls for a criminal trial, not crocodile tears.
