September 10, 2007Brains Of Conservatives And Liberals Work DifferentlyApparently, the liberal brain is more open to ambiguity while conservatives are not. Or so says a new study in Nature Neuroscience. So I think the appropriate solution here is to medicate the liberals. Or maybe the conservatives. I don't know. I'm kind of feeling ambiguous about the whole thing. Posted by Philip Dawdy at September 10, 2007 09:09 AM

So they did a study and found that some people are better at telling Ms from Ws when flashed on a screen, and from that they deduce that one group can handle more complex political thought. Maybe medicate the people who did the study, too. Posted by: MvB at September 10, 2007 09:30 AMThey do work differently! Does this mean if I can't decide which party, repubs or dems, is the least reprehensible, I should get an MRI because maybe I have political agnosia? Posted by: Sally at September 10, 2007 09:59 AMSo wait ... what does it mean if I'm indifferent to the ambiguity and apathetic about the study? Posted by: Puckett at September 10, 2007 12:11 PMit means you are a mess puckett! Posted by: Philip Dawdy at September 10, 2007 12:14 PMDid anyone catch this other recent news article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2007/sep/07/medicineandhealth.lifeandhealthinsurance Posted by: Masale.Wallah at September 10, 2007 01:06 PMHa! as the liberal offspring of two hardcore conservatives, I can assure you that our minds work way differently...and that not every human personality trait or quirk is the result of genetics. Environment is tres important, case in point: I had some great liberal teachers and friends who taught me how to appreciate ambiguity, critical thinking, and questioning authority. did y'all see how i was pegged as an either/or from my bumperstickers?! i wrote about it on my blog. all i know is im dyslexic[spell it]and M's and W's always look opposite to me.
