Forced ECT Case Stopped In New York

Recently, I wrote about yet another case of forced ECT on a psych patient in New York State. Thanks to much pressure from members of MindFreedom International and likely readers of this and other mental health blogs as well, the patient's lawyer reports that the state is not going forward with the procedure.

Since posts like these often attract newbie readers, let me again state my position on ECT: ECT should never be performed without a patient's active consent. If you want the procedure, go ahead and have a nice day. If you don't want the procedure, then the state has no right to force it upon you.

I just got out of a three week hospitilization. It wasn't very fun. Whenever I go to the hospital it's not fun. Fortunatly however, they got me off the Clozril!!! I gained close to 50 pounds on that drug. When I came home I looked like a blimp. I've never been that heavy. But now, thank G-d, the weight is melting off like ice-cream. It's only been a few days and already I feel pounds thinner. I'll get back to my normal weight in no time. No-good Clozeril! But yes, I'll start fitting into by cute little Abercrombie clothes in no time. Has anyone else gained a collosal amount of weight on a drug?

Yes on Olanzpine, and havent managed to loose any weight. Know what you mean about hospitals I was changed from the above meds now on cholpromazpine now totally off that but still remaining on quietapine now reducing that to go on clozril. Apart from the weight gain did it help your condition? Anxious to know.........
