For those of you interested in matters Paxil/Seroxat, GSK: License To (K)ill (a nice riff on the Beastie Boys album) has a ton of interesting items on the drug's approval in the UK. BTW, I wonder if one of the resident Paxil experts out there could fill me in on why we are seeing such an explosion of commentary on the drug in the UK but complete silence on these shores. Is the drug being used a lot over there still? Its use seems to have dropped off in the US. Just curious.

CL Psych takes my Paxil post of today and goes me one better. Read it.

depression introspection on a beauty queen cum pharma rep pressing for teen depression awareness campaigns in the Philly area. Nah, no self-interest there.

Orthomolecular psychiatry, diet and mental health. Interesting.

Someone ripping off Barbara Ehrenreich's prose on depression's weird roots in European culture.

Every fourth Austrian is mentally ill. I'll make sure to inform the Guvernator.

An Eli Lilly study showing that early non-response to an antipsychotic by schizophrenics means docs need to be more aggressive about switching meds. No doubt to Zyprexa.

Orthomolecular is a good topic. I've got a bunch of stuff on that. My daughter was taking B-3 during the removal of Zyprexa. The inpatient docs ditched my 'in the gut' talks as well as the B-3. There's a lot to this.

All I can say about beauty queen rep: she's got a mission to sell psych meds to teen girls is the target audience there, because of theories of antidepressants helping anorexics. As an ex-Miss Photography Hall greeter as a 14 year old at a Ca. County Fair--I can promise everyone that Miss Anyone has a few tricks of the trade to stay thin, and keep that toothy grin in shape. Now Pharma thinks they can get in on that.rah.rah."Good for her!"

I happen to have an Austrian friend, who has 2 of 4 generations dx w mental illness. Interesting.

Thanks for the interesting reads.

I have many psych diagnosis, which one or ones do you want to beleive in? Anyways food is definitely critical to good health in anyone, specially "mentally ill". I eat three fruits minimum every day , apple orange and a handfull of grapes. According to experts we are supposed to have five to six but I can't come up with three more.
I can't have anything with whole wheat in it, like pasta. I used to eat kraft (mac and cheese)dinner every other day.
What happens is an upset stomach/bowel. If my stomach is unhappy, I'm unhappy.Pretty simple. I would enjoy eating cheesy kraft dinner with ketchup again, but I know I can't :-(
I might have celiac disease (http://www.celiac.com/index.html) but who cares?
I just need another pill for my mental illness.
