The Bipolar Cop Is A Doc

Angela Holland, the King County Sheriff's Deputy, who was shitcanned in 2004 for revealing that she has bipolar disorder, is a principal character in the short documentary "Stigmanity." The doc's director was kind enough to credit the article I wrote about Holland in his doc, which has been entered in the Berlin Film Festival and may be entered in other film competitions as well. You can view it here.

Angie looks fabulous in the doc and isn't quite as tongue-tied as she thinks she is on camera. More to come on all of this, you can be sure of that.

This documentary is profound. Angie you did an outstanding job, you are graceful ,and speak with ease. This doc brought tears to my eyes, and is a must see.
Congrats Philip, and good luck with it.

I forgot to add 2 things that struck me watching this documentary:
Angie was an asset to her workplace by being bipolar.
The scenes showing mentally ill patients in jails.
Both of those 2 things made me cry. The fact that Angie was wrongly thought of as a liability pisses me off.
This documentary widens the perspective and takes it across all areas that can be affected by ignorant fear of mentally ill people.
Thank you Angie, for all you did and are doing, this job as an advocate in the documentary, I feel could be why, (that elusive reason)things happened the way they did.

I second Stephany's emotions.

Philip and Angie make a dynamic duo!

Angie, thank you for putting your life on the line in the community...and for putting your life story online in newspaper, blog and documentary. You are our hero.

Hi, Philip. Super congratulations! This is extremely powerful. You couldn't have picked a better time to leave that crummy dead end job of yours. Fuck losers. You've got yourself a real winner here. You and Angie are an extremely powerful team. Don't laugh when I say this, but NAMI right now is your best friend. They will embrace you and Angie and the doc-maker and greatly amplify the message. Time for a NAMI road show with you guys.

To Angie - Thank you so much for your courage. You really nailed it. You have so much to offer and you have my unqualified support.

To the doc-maker - Thank you for having the guts to do this. I will do whatever I can to get the word out.

Yeah, it's called infiltrating the troops.
Do it.

Just trying to "catch-up" from Ms. Holland's Seattle Weekly article from a while ago as I am bi-polar too and work in the criminal justice field myself and am interested in learning about her lawsuit. Google brought me here. Where can I see this documentary??
