Odd Bits

A mom is murdered in Maine. And now one of the state's papers is arguing against patients' civil liberties and calling the Treatment Advocacy Center "highly-respected." By whom?

College students want more meds. I think they need more bong hits personally. JK.

Mississippi set to execute man with bipolar disorder. Only in the South.

Trying to find psych meds that mimic nicotine. Most schizophrenics and many bipolars smoke a tons of cigs, perhaps medicating their dopamine receptors. I knew smoking was good for something!

Social networking site claims to be first for the mentally-ill. Um, and MySpace's groups aren't?

Nude Sunbather: Cheekies Helps Disorder

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) -- A nude sunbather is suing for the right to bask "au naturel" with his rat terrier, Cheekies, at his side. The plaintiff, former bodybuilder Mark DelCore, says he needs Cheekies with him because he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.

He says sunbathing is a balm for a skin condition he developed after exposure to World Trade Center toxins while leaving a lower Manhattan gym.

Those are the arguments DelCore presents in his suit, filed in federal court in Central Islip.

DelCore, of Forest Hills, Queens, favors a "clothing optional" beach near Kismet, on Fire Island. But officials at the Fire Island National Seashore say Cheekies is not welcome.

The park allows only guide dogs on its swimming beaches. DelCore says his dog's healing presence qualifies him as a "service dog."

Regarding the Puget Sound Nanny Syndrome:

Besides watching where one smokes, don't even think about feeding a pigeon. Imagine smoking in a park, on a bench, and feeding pigeons to relax. Now imagine a fine so large you may as well have booked a flight for a vacation somewhere.

When the public is left without any legal way to unwind, the Nanny Syndrome panel will probably start complaining about a shift upward in crimes. Petty sneaking of a smoke behind a feed shop while purchasing grains to feed the birds, or worse, sitting with a laptop in a park and gambling online, while smoking and feeding pigeons in Redmond. Oh now that would be a glorious moment of defiance.
These people need to get a life.

Feeding wild pigeons in the city of Redmond will soon be illegal.

"The Redmond City Council unanimously passed an ordinance Tuesday night that would fine pigeon feeders anywhere from $100 to $1,000.

The law takes effect five days after it is published, which means it will be law July 29.

The move was prompted by complaints from business owners and residents about congregating pigeons and their droppings.".(more)
