The drug Dianette is under review in Britain after reports that it caused serious depression in 100 women. Dianette is also used as a contraceptive. Weird.

Don't forget the side-effects of Accutane, including this dandy, pulled from Yahoo! Health:

Changes in mood or thoughts. The Center for Drug Evaluation and Research division of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns that Accutane (isotretinoin) may cause depression, psychosis, and, rarely, thoughts of suicide, suicide attempts, and suicide. The link between Accutane and these mood changes is not clear. Talk to your doctor for more information on whether Accutane is right for you or your child. If you or your child is taking Accutane and has signs of depression, see your doctor for treatment. Even if you stop taking Accutane, depression may not improve.

What came first hormones or psychosis? Oh tell me about it. Now that docs are treating someone I know for hormonal imbalance, and problems due to Depakote use (black box warning for women)once they added the 'pill' to balance it out she got worse, Ive seen the pattern and no psych wants to ..or can...combine all of these therapies, and it just adds to the complexity.
The circle just keeps on goin round and round.
