Stress Causes Depression

Well, duh. And they have tentatively established this in rats. Not that animal models are such a great proxy for human maladies, but yeah stress does crazy things to people. And American society is sure a big old stress machine. Everyone do tai chi and get zen with yourself.

The provactive question that is before us then, is: Do testing on humans? and at what age? No meds given to these under age 18 kids have been trialed on under age 18 kids (like the 4 year olds)so we have rat comparisons. Did you know, that when the airbags in cars were being tested, they tested them on dead pigs? I am not joking. They strapped a dead pig into the carseat. Now they use cadavors. Just a thought, I want to know what a depressed rat looks like.Where do they get that baseline. Adding in this comment part of another of your posts re: having something that makes you happy or whatever can help you beat this shit...yep. Some people ask me how I keep my momentum going, advocating for my kids, trying to get hours in at work, and you know what? it is the small time outs I take in the day that ground me. I plant flower seeds, mow the grass, look at something outside and remind myself life goes on, and I want to be a part of it. This all ties in to the stress causing depression...I'm staying one step ahead of it, by not looking back, and trying to start every day as if the one before it didn't happen, to gain strength to move into the present moment.I like to say my therapist is a tree. As I drove home from Bozeman 10 hours on Easter Sunday, the first time in a bazillion years I was not with all 3 of my kids that day, I had to thank God I was with one of my daughters, that I was capable and able to help her discharge from a psych hosp, while my youngest also in one now, I missed her so badly. But driving across the Eastern side of our state approaching the Columbia River, was the most amazing sunset, and heavenly cloud lit sky. Looking at that, is one of those time outs I take, to say thank you. Thank you. Walked in the house and my dog was unconditionally happy to see me. It all ties together.

human stress hormone cortisol....is something I've researched for years, and really does play a big part for women, especially.
